Principal's Blog - July 2018

During my June Blog I promised you an update on a number of things…

I am pleased to announce that our Global Challenge team won the University of Wolverhampton STEM Challenge with their HAPI house entry. Team members included Ali Al Kutbi, Joshkaran Dasoria, Oliver Franklin-Jones, Titus Fransisco, Theon Lynch and Amy Lynk, all from Y12.

We also ran with away with a host of DIGI awards. Award winners were Jack Mackie, Callum Lockley, Morgan Flewers and Aman Lal was runner-up in his category.

We had a fantastic week of employer project presentations. Thank-you to all employers who were able to join the event and a particular thank-you to our fantastic team of construction staff and Midland Metro Alliance for providing such an animating project. The winning teams were:

Y10, Joshua Boden-Wheaver, Klaudia Borun, Arron Patel, Joshua Johnson and Ethan Morris;

Y12, Joshkaran Dasoria, Morgan Flewers, Oliver Franklin-Jones, Haidar Iqbal and Amy Lynk.

We were also pleased to announce general award winners during our final week and to our highest achievers who made it onto the prestigious honours board for academic year 2017/18.

As you will be aware Ofsted visited last month and we received our much anticipated report. Ofsted have judged the UTC as a GOOD school with OUTSTANDING Personal Development and Welfare. This is a fantastic achievement and everybody associated with the school should be very proud.

Finally we would like to wish all of our students a restful break and we look forward to seeing you again in September. We also look forward to seeing our Year 11s and 13s on results day.

Long may the sun keep shining.
